Following three suspensions in fewer than 12 months, LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been dismissed from the football team.

Perrilloux is no longer a Tiger

The Tigers Sports Information Office released a brief four-paragraph statement early Friday morning indicating that coach Les Miles has kicked Perrilloux off the team.

“Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team,” Miles said. “In the end, he didn’t fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete.

“We hope that a new beginning will benefit him. I wish Ryan and his family nothing but the best in any future endeavors.”

Perrilloux had been suspended last summer after he used a fake identification card to enter a Baton Rouge casino. During the 2007 season, he was suspended for an off-campus incident.

Then, Perrilloux was suspended for spring practice for being late for a team meeting. He was re-instated to the team for the last week of spring workouts, but was not allowed to practice.

Perrilloux did make the trip to the White House when the 2007 national championship team was honored. Less than one month later, Miles has made the decision to remove Perrilloux from the team.

According to school officials, Perrilloux will complete the current semester at LSU. Miles will make no further comment on the matter.

Perrilloux made two starts in 2007 – one against Middle Tennessee and one against Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference championship game. Perrilloux was named the Most Valuable Player in the Tigers’ win against the Vols.

Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee were the only scholarship quarterbacks during spring practice. They will be joined in summer workouts by incoming freshman Jordan Jefferson.
