Tuberville @ Huntsville Alumni Event

(according to a well known message board)

CTT said to tell all the “chat room” people hello…and that he reads the “chat rooms” occasionally just to see “how he’s doin’”…

- neck is fine

- will still run out of 2 back sets some

- Fannin might be best athlete he’s ever had on a team he’s been a part of

- best football player on the team is probably Jerraud Powers

- trying to recruit WRs to Auburn last 3-4 years has been like pulling teeth; not necessarily because of “reality”…Auburn threw the ball more than we got credit for…but the negative recruiting against us as RB U was hard to overcome with many HS WRs…it won’t be a problem now…BUT Auburn will still run the ball more than we throw it…

- several players will (SHOULD) flourish in this system…Robert Dunn could be an All-American in this offense if he just becomes consistent; this offense made for his skills….Tommy Trott should also excel…Fannin can play every offensive (skill) position including QB…Auburn will have a package with Fannin at QB, don’t know yet how much it’ll be used but he ran this exact offense in HS…

- best OL he’s had at AU

- simple truth about switching to the TF spread?????…”we simply had to score more points”

- if we had played a game the Saturday after Spring Practice ended, neither Wes Bynum or Ryan Shoemaker would have started at their respective kicking positions….based on Spring performances and stats, Morgan Hull would have been our FG guy….CTT couldn’t remember his name and was clearly embarrassed for a couple of minutes…he asked if anyone in the audience knew who he was talking about and after several false names were shouted from the floor, some lady offered “Morgan Hull”…he laughed and said, “I can’t believe all you folks who read the Bunker every night couldn’t come up with Morgan Hull before she did!”

- Rod Bramlett cautioned the audience that this offense would definitely take some getting used to…especially for Auburn old timers who are used to 3 yards and a cloud of dust or 3 running attempts and a punt. He said the first day he and a couple of the radio network guys went out to watch a spring scrimmage in the stadium the first 5 passes were incomplete and not even close…4-5 rows behind him an elderly, white haired lady screamed, “RUN THE DAMN BALL!!!!!!!” Rod thought that was pretty tough….coming from Tuberville’s own Mother…

- Rod offered (off the record after the event) that his primary concern with the new “system” is likely CTT’s primary concern, too, but he’s not going to talk about it publicly…and that is, after playing against our offense day after day in practice how are they really going to play against a strong, good, smash mouth football team????
