A quick update from the Ramsey family. I’ll flesh out the story a little bit either later tonight or perhaps when I wake up in the morning. For background, the original story is here.Former Auburn offensive lineman Chaz Ramsey underwent a second back surgery Wednesday and will not attempt to return to football, Ramsey’s father Key told the Press-Register.Key Ramsey said that doctors expect his son to have a normal and pain-free life after the surgery.Chaz Ramsey alleged in a Press-Register story last week that Auburn’s training staff disregarded doctor’s rehab instructions after his initial back surgery.Ramsey was one of three offensive linemen who started as true freshmen in 2007. But he injured his back in December of 2007 and the subsequent dispute with the training staff was one of the factors leading to his departure from the team in 2008.Auburn announced last week that head football trainer Arnold Gamber had been relieved of his duties. The university said the move was unrelated to the Press-Register’s story on Ramsey.  In an e-mail message to the Press-Register, Ramsey’s father said he wanted to thank Auburn fans for their thoughts and prayers. He also thanked Auburn team physician Dr. Michael Goodlett for his “support and compassion.”
