Interesting article on Facebook violating recruiting rules

More than 700 people signed up for the group encouraging Wall — a local standout and the nation’s No. 1 basketball recruit — to pick the Wolfpack by national signing day next week. But the NCAA says such sites, and dozens more like them wooing Wall and other top recruits, violate its rules. More than just cheerleading boards, the NCAA says the sites are an attempt to influence the college choice of a recruit.

The Iron Bowl will be played on Friday for the next two years.

CBS Sports has announced that it will televise the 2009 and 2010 Auburn-Alabama football games nationwide. Games in both years will be moving to Friday on the last weekend of the conference regular season schedule.

“Moving the Iron Bowl is part of fulfilling the contractual arrangements between the Southeastern Conference and CBS,” Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said. “It will also be the marquee rivalry game that day and provide tremendous exposure on CBS for our program and our state.”

The 2009 game will be played on Nov. 27 at 1:30 p.m. CT at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn. It will be Gene Chizik‘s first Iron Bowl as Auburn’s head coach.

“The Iron Bowl is the best rivalry in college football and the conference and CBS moving it to Friday will signify the kickoff of college football’s biggest weekend,” Chizik said.

The 2010 game will be played on Nov. 26 (Time TBA) at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

CBS Sports is the exclusive national network broadcaster of Southeastern Conference football.
