This is just another step in the direction Auburn has been going for the last decade (or longer…) First all the “Real” tailgating, RV’s, etc. are kicked of main campus, then every road is lined with unsightly concrete filled pylons, further restricting normal people’s access to campus. ~10 years ago students were promised a new student parking deck, and fees were raised to cover it. No parking deck was built until the new student center took away the parking lot used for “VIPS” during football games. Now we have a new basketball arena being built largely to add more executive suites for “VIPS.”

Welcome to Auburn 2.0, only the rich can go to games, tailgate, or live near campus.

I guess I was mistaken when I thought that the $17,000 I am paying each year for tuition included a place to tailgate…

The problems ISN’T the fact that a couple of guys are trying to make some money. That is commendable. It’s the fact that they are partnered up with the university to REQUIRE people to start PAYING for tailgate spots. This sets a dangerous precedence about the rules regarding tailgating and what the university can get with when charging people for various things that should be free.

What’s next? Will the rest of campus be forced to purchase permits to set up a tailgate spot? It might sound far-fetched but that is the road that thing like this lead to.

Slowly but surely people are being moved farther away from campus to tailgate unless you have deep enough pockets. The students shouldn’t have to fork out even more money just to tailgate a football game.

This isn’t like the Alumni Tent which only took up a relatively small space. We are talking about 6 or so acres. If these guys want to start a business like this, let me purchase a piece of property near campus to run their business. Do not encroach upon space that has been 95% student tailgates.

You actually commend them? Really? You realize that because of this great idea your claiming they have that hundreds of students, families, and alumni who have been tailgating in that area for over a decade are now being asked to pay money or shown the door? Yeah, great idea! Let’s try and make money off anything and anyone we possibly can. How about we come to your tailgate site and tell you, sorry bud but now we are charging people to tailgate here. You’d be pissed to.

i don’t understand the issue. they aren’t going to be bothersome and it looks like a nice idea…so why care what they do?

i actually commend these guys for taking the initiative and coming up with a smart way to make some money…i actually wish that i would have thought of this myself!

i wish them the best of luck in their venture. war eagle!

this represents everything wrong with the world. valet tailgating for people with too much money taking over common areas of the campus that alumni and students have enjoyed for YEARS.
