Junior quarterback Jeff Driskel, a 6-foot-4, 223-pounder out of Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Fla., recently picked up a verbal offer from Auburn and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Gus Malzahn.
I’ve coached and coached against some great players. I can honestly tell you that Jeff Driskel is the best quarterback I’ve ever seen, period. Besides having all the physical tools, it’s everything else. He’s a better kid than he is an athlete and a football player.” Driskel has long had an affinity for Auburn. Gierke calls him “a lifelong Auburn fan.” “I’ve liked Auburn for a while now,” said Driskel, whose family is close to Tiger baseball manager Taylor Stanley. “I like the campus. I like their tradition. I’ve been to a game there, and the atmosphere was unreal.”
