i still love this one on coach o:
yaw yaw yaw yaw yaawwwwww yaw football.

Come and listen to my story ’bout a coach named Lane
The poor Volunteer was really glad his daddy came
And then one day, he was shootin’ off his mouth
And out came the news, Ole Petey had run out
Carroll that is. From the Trojans. USC.
Well, the first thing you know when Lane became aware
The kin folk said “Lane, move away from there.”
Said “Californy is the place you oughtta be!”
So they left a Vol pup,
And they moved to USC.
But Tennessee has already lost at least one prospect that was hours from attending his first class in Knoxville. Four-star DT Brandon Willis (Duncan, S.C./James F. Byrnes) and four-star DE Corey Miller (Duncan, S.C./James F. Byrnes) were both planning on enrolling early. But that’s all changed now.
Willis was getting ready to head to Knoxville to start classes when the news broke. He ruled out becoming a Vol and said that his options are open to out-of-state programs.”I am not going to Tennessee, I am not going to South Carolina, I am not going to Clemson,” Willis said. “I am not sure what I am going to do now. I am going to sit down with my dad and talk about it.”
North Carolina, UCLA or perhaps Auburn may end up with the nation’s No. 9 defensive tackle prospect. One place he won’t be going is USC, even though the outgoing Vols coaching staff tried to get him to follow them to Los Angeles.

At this rate, Lane Kiffin is an 8-5 season at USC away from a $50 million contract to coach Peyton Manning and the Colts.
Seriously, why not? Why wouldn’t he just keep rising up the coaching ranks on the basis of nothing much at all? If a 31-year-old with no head-coaching experience can get the Oakland Raiders job, and a guy who got fired from that job after losing 15 of 20 games can get the Tennessee job, and a guy who went 7-6 in a reckless first season in Knoxville can get the USC job … is there any rung of the sport to which Kiffin cannot climb?
I mean, what if he actually does something impressive as a coach? Win a conference title and they might just fast-track him into the Hall of Fame.
Paris Hilton has paid more dues than Lane Kiffin.

Hundreds of students have now gathered on Johnny Majors Boulevard and are blocking the road, apparently with the goal of keeping departing Coach Lane Kiffin from leaving the lot. There are signs that order is breaking down–someone has apparently brought a mattress down and lit it on fire. Police and firefighters are on scene in an effort to calm the situation. The mattress has been extinguished. Students are still out on the street, waving signs and chanting things we won’t re-print.

A crowd of several hundred University of Tennessee students and fans spontaneously gathered Tuesday night to cheer, jeer and boo the news that head football coach Lane Kiffin had accepted a new coaching job with the University of Southern California after only one season leading the Vols.
“We want him to feel our emotion,” said sophomore Gavin Hendryx. “You don’t do that to UT fans.”

Recruits De-Committing:
Tennessee not only lost head football coach Lane Kiffin and some of his staff to Southern Cal Tuesday night, the Vols also lost one of their commitments from Byrnes High School, DE Brandon Willis. “I was just about to leave (Duncan for Knoxville) when that came on,” said Willis who was going to join Miller as an early enrollee. “All my bags are packed. I’m talking to my dad right now trying to figure out what to do. I’m back open. I’ve got one more official visit. I might take it, I might not. UCLA is still in the mix. I won’t stay in the state. And I won’t go to Tennessee. They had the nerve to call me and ask me to come to Southern Cal. And coach Orgeron had just told me he was going to be my coach at Tennessee. Auburn just called me. I don’t know what to say.”

Their #1 replacement turns them down:

John Brice for Volquest.com reporting to Jim Wogan of WATE TV 6 Knoxville that now-former assistant University of Tennessee coach Ed Orgeron was on the phone with new recruits and early committals trying to lure them to USC as he was cleaning out his office less than 3 hours after word got out that Lane Kiffin resigned and was going to become the new head coach at the Univ of Southern California!!!
The UT football players were having a very contentious meeting with Kiffin and players were reportedly putting Orgeron on speakerphone of their cellphones listening to what was occurring.
It’s great to be an Auburn Tiger. Epic Meltdown in Knoxville tonight.

Tailback Lache Seastrunk said he wrote UT off after hearing three Vols being arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery in November.
“You just keep hearing a lot of negative things about them (like) robbing people,” the tailback from Temple (Texas) High said.
Seastrunk said he believes that UT’s public image has hurt the Vols among some prospects, including him.
“I don’t want to be associated with robbing anybody,” the 5-11, 190-pounder said. “I want to have a great image like I have right now.”
Seastrunk said even if he had wanted to, his family ruled out the Vols for fear that the highly-rated tailback would be guilty by being associated with the public UT incident.
“My grandmother and mom were like ‘Oh no. You’re not going out there,’ ” he said.
Defensive back Mike Edwards and receiver Nu’Keese Richardson were dismissed from UT. Safety Janzen Jackson was retained after his charges were dropped.
Seastrunk, who took an unofficial visit to UT last summer, said he was already wary of UT’s depth chart, which showcased two highly rated tailbacks — Bryce Brown and David Oku.
Seastrunk commended defensive backs coach Willie Mack Garza, who recruits Texas, for convincing him to visit.
“That’s when I started liking them a little bit,” he said.
Seastrunk, who is considering Memphis, LSU, Oregon, Auburn, Southern California and Texas, said he’s been somewhat pleased with his performance in practice.
“I still think I can do way better because I always set my bar really high,” he said. “I always have high standards for myself. I still feel like I’m going to run for over 200 yards … if I can get the carries (in Saturday’s game). I feel like I can do anything if I put my mind to it.”
Seastrunk didn’t seem too concerned about recruiting even though he said the in-state Longhorns may have stopped recruiting him.
“I like Texas still but I don’t think they really talk to me anymore but that’s OK,” he said. “I don’t really keep in contact with them; that’s why (they haven’t been recruiting him stronger).
“I’m always doing a hundred million things and I just got a new phone.”
