Lawd Have Mercy!

Because the oppsoing defense is going to need some ….MERCY!

As if you couldn’t tell already. Auburntron has taken liking to the BIG 37… I mean.. this guy is HUGE.  Please watch out for this guy.  Promise you will hear his name this season.  Even SuperMarioFanin agrees, he sees what exactly Mr.Phillips is cabale of. “He’s going to shock a lot of people because he’s so big, but he’s so athletic,” Fannin said. “He’s a guy who can get out of the backfield and catch it. He’ll catch it one-handed. I’ve seen it.” But you say thats just Mario Fannin, Well Curtis Luper has been around for a minute or two and has seen alot.  It is probably safe to say that he has seen his share of impressive backs.   Curtis Luper says Phillips can stand flat-footed and do a back flip. He can also dunk.

Should Tony Barbee consider signing on Phillips to play in the Auburn Arena?  Whew, maybe….back to the turf though-Phillips rushed for 3,000 yards and 49 touchdowns and also played in the defensive line at Handley High School in Roanoke. He publicly showed up on the Auburn recruiting board on signing day.  Hes only 45 minutes away from Auburn. Passing on him would have been a mistake.

I am sure that the Auburn Defense is Happy he is on our side of the Ball… This was probably the picture taken when the Chizik and Company found out they would not have to learn to defend this beast when he committed to The Tigers.

Mr.Phillips

Defense: Check!

We all remember last season.  We started off strong.  We even played strong towards the end of the season, as well.  Somehow Five “Ls” showed up on our record.  Most of them very unfortunate, The Auburn Tigers Led to start off most games.  Problem: Defense.  The guys just got tired. plain. simple.  Now- a whole conference room of defense is ready to help our returning defense.  New linebackers, corners, THE WORKS!

Example: The Auburn defensive coordinator, who coached a remarkably thin
linebacker corps last season, saw four defenders go all 115 plays in the
Outback Bowl on Jan. 1(No reserve). But suddenly he has a meeting room full of
players for 2010.  “It’s nice to walk into a room and for your chairs to be filled
up as opposed to being in a half-empty room last year,” Roof said. “It’s
created an environment of competition that’s made everybody better.”

Ted Roof isn’t lonely anymore…

ALL HANDS ON DECK!

YES!  Fall Practice has begun for the Tigers.  OH MY, how many of us have been waiting for this day.  It’s time to pick up where we left off.  Marching full speed at the rest of the competition.  There are plenty of stats being thrown in and out, players hitting the work out room (which of course is Top Shelf).  Some interersting facts for myself were:

Coach Gene Chizik said everybody is eligible and ready to go.  Wow! Spectacular! We aren’t messing around with any hoodlums-  Everyone has their act together and on the field.  Obviously the first step in a very long journey.  There has been countless years of so and so being cut or this guy not making the grades.  Here we are and man everyone seems to be meshing well.

Dual Threat Running Backs. Sophomore scatback Onterio McCalebb is 180 pounds and gaining. Freshman fullback Ladarious Phillips weighs 290.   There is 100+Lbs difference between this cats.  McCalebbbbb was spectacular starting the season last year.  He has Bo Jackson written ALL over him.  He even rushed for more yards than Bo in his first freshman start.  Then pop in Phillips to just plow you over with is 290lbs, Lord Have Mercy!!! We are talking a great combo with these two alone.  Phillips is listed as an athelete and could be ANYWHERE.  But lets dont forget, This hasnt even touched on SuperMarioFanin OR Mr.Dyer.  We thought the crew of Cadillac, Brown, and Tre Smith was great?? Now there are four!  No homo, but, I think I’m Gettin’ a chubby!

I believe everything is just going to fall into place this year, be patient.  My memories of 2004 come to mind.  It might not be OUR year this year, but its definatly gonna be a great one.  Back in ’04 I was hesitant in our Tigers  thru the LSU game.  That game brough the family together and after that win, EVERYTHING just seemed to click after that.

Your Fu*king Out… I’m Fu*king in! P.S. Buy KSwiss

East Bound and Down is back as of Sept 26th.. If you have yet to see these commericals do yourself a favor!!!!

Love Mikey – Missed you all - Read Below…

Sports company K-Swiss is targeting younger males with a new mass-media campaign featuring Kenny Powers, the fictional character played by Danny McBride in the HBO series “Eastbound & Down.”

The campaign, which includes national TV spots, in-theatre ads, print media, digital/interactive campaigns and outdoor, introduces the Westlake Village, Calif.-company’s new “Tubes” lightweight training footwear. The campaign broke Aug. 2 and will lead into the return of the TV series, which debuts Sept. 26.

Powers, a slightly delusional ex-professional baseball player who has become a substitute middle school physical education teacher, is pitted against actual athletes including Jeremy Shockey of the New Orleans Saints, Patrick Willis of the San Francisco 49ers, and Urijah Faber, the MMA Fighter and WEC Champion known as The California Kid.

“We wanted to deliver unfiltered straight talk about how awesome Tubes are,” said David Nichols, executive vice-president of K-Swiss, in a release. “Who better to do that than Kenny Powers? This approach is attention-grabbing, progressive, creative and playful, which is our marketing mantra.” Each execution of the campaign focuses on the shoe’s performance attributes: Lightweight, cushioning, offering stability and flexibility.

From Los Angeles-based 72andSunny, the campaign includes billboards in Times Square and Venice Beach, a campaign micro-site with exclusive content and N.Y. subway posters and bi-coastal wild postings with some featuring a 1-888 number where callers can hear an “inspirational” message from Powers.

Spots will appear on Versus, MTV, ESPN, FX and Comedy Central as well as in movie theaters nationwide. Additional touch points include a focused print media buy including ESPN Magazine, rich banners as well as Facebook Reach Block and a Facebook App called “Workout Wingman” where Powers will take over users’ Facebook pages while they are at the gym training.

The ads are also posted on YouTube and have received more than 32,000 hits as of press time, likely due in part to Kanye West tweeting the URL to his 380,000 followers.

Earlier this year, K-Swiss also entered into a marketing partnership with the star trainer of the show “The Biggest Loser,” Jillian Michaels. Last year, K-Swiss partnered with one of the stars of the show “Gossip Girl,” Ed Westwick.

“It all adds up to a celeb-led incursion into new, more youthful turf,” writes Abe Sauer on BrandChannel. “Older fans of the K-Swiss brand may not understand the association with Powers in particular — if it even hits their radar. But K-Swiss clearly has its sights set on both the action sports and youth front, and demonstrates that the brand may be attempting to shake its dignified middle-aged tennis guy image.”

And so it begins…

After what has seemed like a very loooooooooong summer sans-Auburn football, the time has come for daily, no HOURLY, check-ups of everything Auburn in anticipation of the upcoming season.

As the Tigers report today for the start of Fall practice, let me be the first to say “Welcome back, Tiger fans!”

It has been a difficult, yet exciting off-season. We have watched intently from a distance as our coaches reloaded during National Signing Day and through spring training and the posts here have been few and far between. I know I haven’t posted anything in quite a long time, but the anticipation has gotten to be too much for me so I’ll start us off this 2010 season.

I can’t think of an off-season that has gotten me so excited as this one. From the seniors we return and the incoming freshman that we welcome to the cohesion of our coaching staff, this summer has definitely been a blast.

BUT I’M GLAD IT’S ALMOST OVER!

If you haven’t done so already, make sure you head over to www.auburnwareagle.com and check out the new site and be sure and register at MyTiger for access to additional Auburn tidbits.

Ladies and gents, college football is around the corner. Soon the leaves will start to turn and the sweet smell of bourbon will fill the air.

From us here at Auburntron, WAR DAMN EAGLE!

What say you?
